You should normally hold a good honours degree in any subject, or a professional qualification deemed to be of equivalent standing.

Or

Significant management experience and a substantial record of achievement. Candidates meeting this criteria may not have previously studied at university.

In addition to graduate status, part-time students will be expected to have a level of work experience. The evidence will be assessed on an individual basis and should be supported by employer references.

Students should produce copies of certificates, full CVs preferably in EuroFormat, and passport-size photos.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Strategic Management
This module provides an introduction to strategic management, including its principles, processes, and frameworks. Students will learn about strategic planning, vision and mission development, and the role of strategic management in organizational success. Key topics include strategic analysis, competitive advantage, and strategic decision-making.

Module 2: Strategic Analysis and Planning
Students will explore techniques for analyzing internal and external environments to inform strategic decisions. Topics include SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, and competitor analysis. The module emphasizes the importance of understanding market trends, industry dynamics, and organizational strengths and weaknesses in the strategic planning process.

Module 3: Strategic Formulation and Implementation
This module focuses on the formulation and implementation of strategic plans. Students will learn about different types of strategies, such as corporate, business, and functional strategies. The module also covers strategic alignment, resource allocation, and change management to ensure successful strategy execution.

Module 4: Competitive Strategy and Business Models
Students will analyze competitive strategies and various business models used to gain a competitive edge. Topics include Porter’s Five Forces, differentiation strategies, cost leadership, and value innovation. The module explores how businesses can adapt their models to respond to competitive pressures and market changes.

Module 5: Strategic Leadership and Governance
This module examines the role of leadership and governance in strategic management. Students will learn about strategic leadership styles, board governance, and the ethical considerations in strategic decision-making. The module emphasizes the importance of aligning leadership with organizational strategy and maintaining effective governance practices.

Module 6: Strategic Risk Management
Students will explore the principles of risk management in the context of strategic planning. Topics include identifying strategic risks, assessing risk impact, and developing mitigation strategies. The module covers techniques for managing uncertainties and ensuring that strategic initiatives are resilient to potential disruptions.

Module 7: Innovation and Change Management
In this module, students will learn about managing innovation and change within organizations. Topics include fostering a culture of innovation, managing change initiatives, and implementing new technologies. The module emphasizes the role of innovation in strategic success and how to effectively lead organizational change.

Module 8: Global Strategy and International Business
Students will examine global strategic issues and the challenges of managing international operations. Topics include international market entry strategies, cross-cultural management, and global competitive dynamics. The module explores how organizations can develop and implement strategies in a global context.

Module 9: Strategic Performance Management
This module focuses on measuring and managing strategic performance. Students will learn about performance metrics, balanced scorecards, and strategic control systems. The module covers techniques for monitoring progress, evaluating strategy effectiveness, and making data-driven adjustments to achieve strategic goals.

Module 10: Capstone Project
The capstone project allows students to apply their strategic management knowledge to a real-world case. Students will develop and present a comprehensive strategic plan for an organization, including strategic analysis, formulation, implementation, and performance management. The project will be evaluated by a panel of experts.
